Las Vegas

I love Las Vegas. It is fascinating, interesting and exciting.

Las Vegas can be very expensive on one hand but also quite a deal on the other. There is a lot of free and low cost things to see and do.

Hotels are a steal or deal, however you want to look at it. I recommend staying on the strip although you can get a hotel at much lower cost off strip.

Las Vegas will be crowded and frantic. Depending on the month, it can be very hot. Do your homework before going.

I am attaching a link to an article that I wrote after my second visit to Las Vegas. it should prove helpful to the first timer.

The Port of Miami

When I took my cruise, I sailed from Miami. . I had never been to a port before and had a lot of questions about the Port of Miami. I did not know what to expect. I did my research and never got satisfactory answers. I also would find that most of the information that is out there is wrong.

After returning from my cruise, I wrote an article about The Port of Miami. I really feel this article will be very helpful to someone who has never been. I have received some positive feedback about my article.

I am attaching a link to the article.

Thinking about Cruises

I went on my first cruise a couple of years back. I am looking forward to going on my next one in 2015. Cruising is not for everyone. I have met people who would never consider going on a cruise. I have met others who go several times a year. I have met some who love cruises and others who hate them.

I sailed on the Norwegian Epic and it was a good experience. It was not a great experience but a good one.

The research and planning was a lot of work. There was a lot of frustration and some disappointments when it was all said and done.

I booked my trip through Norwegian Cruise Lines. I had some mixed feelings about the cruise consultant who assisted me but when it was all said and done, he booked me on a good cruise. it was right for me. However, keep in mind that these cruise consultants are in a call center with head phones Their job is to sell you a cruise and then sell you transportation and hotels. Their job is to sell and make money for the cruise lines. You are one of many guests as we are referred to. My cruise consultant had no interest in me after selling me my trip. He never even returned additional calls.

I have written about my experiences.  I wrote one article before i took my cruise and one after returning from my cruise.  I am attaching both links.

AARP Life @ 50

AARP hosts two conventions every year. One is held in the Spring and one is held in the Fall. These conventions are great. We will be in Boston in May and in San Diego in September.

I could tell you all about it but it is easier to attach a link to the conventions.

I am also attaching a link to an article that I wrote for Yahoo Voices about attending AARP Conventions.

I wrote this article when AARP had one convention a year. Now, they have two smaller ones every year.  They always have them in great cities. Sometimes I am discovering the city for the first time and other times, I am revisiting the city.

Boston on a Budget

Boston is a wonderful, interesting, exciting and beautiful city but, oh, so expensive as far as hotels and lodging. However, I have found probably the best deal in Boston and that is 40 Berkeley Street. It is advertised as a hostel but I consider it to be a budget hotel since you can have private rooms.

http://www.40berkeley.com

40 Berkeley Street is not for everyone. It is basic and simple. Nothing fancy but it worked for me.

I have written about Boston On a Budget for Yahoo Voices and I am attaching a link to the article. It should be very helpful to those who have never visited Boston as well as others who are not yet very familiar with the city.

If your some reason, you can not click on the Yahoo Voices link, try copying and pasting it for your browser.

Austin City Limits Music Festival

The Austin City Limits Music Festival will take place early and middle October this year. The talent is getting ready to be announced shortly. I guarantee it will be great. However, the cost of tickets has gotten a little pricey with each weekend costing over $200.00.

If you are planning on coming, you should book your transportation and hotels now. Don't come without reservations because everything will be sold out including planes.

I wrote an article about The Austin City Limits Music festival for Yahoo Voices a couple of years ago. On one hand, it is somewhat outdated but still timely. The article mostly focused on Austin weather which can be a factor.  No one ever knows what to expect from Central Texas weather. Be certain to keep your eye on the weather.
